Are Banks Open On New Years Eve. ZanyGames- Zombie Maker US

Are banks open on new years eve, is a question on many peoples minds today. The answer is quite simply yes, they are. Today, the 31st of December is not a bank holiday, so the banks will be open as per normal. Well almost, because some banks do have a habit of closing a little earlier than normal on days such as this. So if you do have to make a trip to the bank, play it safe and visit early. It goes, without saying of course that you can expect banks to be closed tomorrow. While many banks have a habit of opening on Saturdays, it will not be the case for tomorrow the 1st of January. Many banks will also be taking the holiday on Monday as well, so do be prepared. While most banks these days do provide ATM facilities, it is not unusual for these machines to quickly run out of cash long before the banks open back up again.

Black-eyed peas recipe: Good luck for 2011, served with bacon and Fergie. ZooClan Hotbar Download - US

It's a New Year's tradition in homes across the country and especially the South: If you want to have good luck in the coming year, eat some black-eyed peas on Jan. 1.And just to be clear, we're talking about actual black-eyed peas. We do not endorse the cooking and eating of Fergie, Will.I.Am and Co. In addition to supposedly bringing luck (legumes are representative of money, and the black-eyed pea tradition in this country dates to the Civil War), the following recipe sounds like a pretty nice hangover cure. It's got a little bit of spice, good amounts of starch and protein courtesy of the main ingredient and the best post-bender fix of all, bacon.

Luke Worrall: Kelly Osbourne Slams Ex on Twitter

Don’t piss off Kelly Osbourne, because she will slam you on Twitter! OK! Magazine reports that the 26 year-old Fashion Police host went on a Twitter rant about her ex-fiance, model Luke Worrall, whom she claims cheated on her with both women and men.

Kelly spent the holidays in London with her mom, dad and siblings. On Monday Kelly started with some sad, vague holiday Tweets…and by Tuesday she was explicitly attacking Luke. Here’s what she wrote:

“Just found something out that has hurt my feelings so bad and christmas was going so well…What do you do when someone lies in the darkest way and you try to tell the person that was lied 2 but they don’t believe you?”

“I think the best part of this situation is that I have been painted out 2 be the crazy 1 when all I did was tell the honest to gods truth”

“@Luke_worrall is the biggest piece of shit he has been trying to get back w/ me I only came home for Xmas to see him mean while he has been”

“Fucking 100’s of girls as we as men behind my back all he did was use me all girls beware of @Luke_worral he is a using Cunt!”

“He used me for my money and a free ride he is lucky I am not spilling the hole truth about what he did!”

“He is the worst thing that ever happened to me I don’t give a fuck what happens to him anymore

“Iam and always will be 2 good 4 @luke_worrall darling ur pretty face will only get you so far because u don’t have the brains to back it up”

She finally finished: “Dont think I have ever been so stupid he made a fool of me going to be off Twitter for a while never felt my heart brake like this in my life”

Luke’s only response: “no because im not going to spill personal business over twitter im not that low!”

I actually agree with Luke on that one, but if he did what Kelly said he did, he’s already pretty low!!

Vince Cable to vote for tuition fee rise

He told a newspaper: "Obviously I have a duty as a minister to vote for my own policy - and that is what will happen."

Mr Cable has previously said all Lib Dem MPs would act collectively to abstain in the vote.

The Lib Dems told the BBC they are not disputing the quotes in the Richmond and Twickenham Times.

A source stressed the party's MPs were still discussing their position - but the BBC understands the idea of a mass abstention by Lib Dems on tuition fees is growing less likely.
'No doubt'

Liberal Democrats have faced angry protests from students, with the party's London MPs forced to cancel a planned conference on Saturday after fears it would be disrupted.

What we are doing is giving universities the opportunity to maintain high standards by charging better off graduates later in life more than they are at the moment”
Vince Cable
Business Secretary

Mr Cable told the newspaper he had reconsidered his decision and had "no doubt" he should support the controversial policy that will allow some universities to charge up to £9,000 in fees.

He said he had been considering abstaining to offer an "olive branch" to Lib Dem colleagues who were "finding this difficult".

He added that he felt sad when he saw students taking to the streets, saying: "Whenever I get the chance to discuss the situation with them face-to-face and I am able to explain it I think there is more understanding of the problem - that we had to take very substantial cuts in my department."

He added: "What we are doing is giving universities the opportunity to maintain high standards by charging better-off graduates later in life more than they are at the moment.

At Home with the Georgians,

What’s not to like about a programme that combines nosing about in people’s homes with costume drama? At Home with the Georgians (BBC Two) was as British as you could get, combining two national fixations in one package. With pretty actresses in bosomy dresses talking about things like stone-coloured paint, it was the apotheosis of property porn. Sadly, though, the answer to the original question is: quite a lot. This programme – the first in a series exploring how our attitudes towards our homes were shaped in the 18th century – was at times as annoying as banging your head repeatedly against a sash window.

To start with, I’m not sure I bought the programme's premise, which is that the Georgian era was somehow particularly significant or revelatory in terms of the relationship between man, woman and hearth. I’m sure that how Georgians felt about their homes tells us a lot about them, and us; but then you could probably learn just as much from a prehistoric cave or a Victorian parlour.

What’s more, the first episode – subtitled A Man’s Place – set out to prove that men were more into “fussing over interior decoration” in the Georgian era than they are now. As evidence, we were presented with a letter from a man to his fiancée in which he mentioned visiting a house that had one room “done up with paper”. If he’d said the paper was light emerald with a fern motif, I may have been convinced.

US slams WikiLeaks ‘attack’ as new memos drop

Meanwhile new diplomatic cables continued to trickle out, including one saying Iran’s supreme leader has cancer and will be dead “within months” and another saying that China would eventually accept a reunited Korea.

In a lengthy statement, the secretary of state had attempted to limit the damage as she told reporters the United States “deeply regrets” the release of the 250,000 diplomatic cables, all apparently from the State Department.

“This disclosure is not just an attack on America’s foreign policy interests. It is an attack on the international community,” Clinton said, following talks in Washington with Turkey’s foreign minister.

“We are taking aggressive steps to hold responsible those who stole this information” and to prevent future disclosures, she added.

The flood of leaked US diplomatic cables – most of which date from between 2007 and February 2010 – has revealed secret details and indiscreet asides on some of the world’s most tense international issues.

WikiLeaks gave the cables to journalists from five Western publications several weeks ago, and they are being released on the Internet in stages.

On Monday the British Telegraph newspaper published an August 2009 cable quoting a businessman with close ties to Iranian elites as saying that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has a rare form of leukemia and would soon be dead.

Another cable from last year said China, long North Korea’s protector, found Pyongyang’s nuclear weapons “very troublesome” and would accept reunification after the eventual collapse of Kim Jong-Il’s regime.

Earlier highlights included a call by Saudi King Abdullah for the United States to “cut off the head” of the Iranian snake over its nuclear program and leaked memos about a Chinese government bid to hack into Google.

WikiLeaks creator Julian Assange described the mass of documentation as a “diplomatic history of the United States” covering “every major issue.”

Meanwhile, in an interview with Forbes magazine, Assange said WikiLeaks next big document dump will target “a big US bank” early next year.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs fired back on Monday, calling WikiLeaks and others who leak documents “criminals, first and foremost.”

He added, however, that he did not believe the release “impacts our ability to conduct a foreign policy that moves our interests forward.”

But former US president George W. Bush said the leaks sabotage trust between national leaders.

Erica Blasberg's Doctor Pleads Guilty in Suicide

Thomas Hess, a Las Vegas physician, has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor obstruction in the suicide of Erica Blasberg.

According to reports, Hess admitted to removing a suicide note and prescription medications from Blasberg's home before police showed up to investigate, wanting to spare her family the supposed embarrassment of a suicide.

Hess was sentenced to one year probation and 40 hours of community service.

Blasberg, the 25-year-old who joined the LPGA Tour in 2005, was found in May with a plastic bag over her head. Her parents initially expressed skepticism that the cause of death was suicide, but in August police confirmed that it was.

Shortly after Blasberg's death, police raided the office and home of Hess in search of "small blue oval pills in a 30 package blister pack," as well as a specific type of trash bag. The same type of pill package and trash bag were found in Blasberg's residence. Blasberg's parents said she had been taking Xanax for anxiety.

White House memo outlines new anti-leak measures

A four-page draft memo circulated by the White House says President Barack Obama’s national security staff has created an “Interagency Policy Committee for WikiLeaks.”

The panel is charged with assessing the damage caused by the WikiLeaks dump of State Department cables, coordinating various agencies’ response to the leaks, and coming up with measures to improve security for classified documents.

The State Department cables, which follow similar document leaks by WikiLeaks on the Iraq and Afghan wars and have been published since Sunday, have cast a candid and sometimes embarrassing eye on the inner workings of US diplomacy.

The memo, obtained by Reuters, says the National Counterintelligence Executive, which is part of the Office of Director of National Intelligence, will take a lead role in coming up with measures to prevent future WikiLeaks-scale leaking of government secrets.

The short-term measures the intelligence community will take include creating special inspection teams, led by officials from the counterintelligence executive’s office, to look for technical flaws in systems that could make it easier for insiders to steal classified information.

Bradley Manning, an Army private who worked as an intelligence analyst in Iraq, has been charged by militaryauthorities with unauthorized downloading of more than 150,000 State Department cables, though US officials have declined to say whether those cables are the same ones now being released by WikiLeaks. – Reuters

Comedian Whitney Cummings on the Howard Stern Show

No, still no word on the status of Howard Stern’s contract with Sirius XM Satellite radio. Howard did, however, have stand-up comedian Whitney Cummings in the studio this morning. Cummings has been a frequent guest since she was a runner-up in Howard Stern’s Funniest, Hottest Chick Contest back in 2008.

Whitney was in to promote an upcoming pilot, her recent killing on the Friars Club Roast of Quentin Tarantino and some upcoming stand-up gigs. We learned that Whitney is very nice and apologizes ahead of time to her “targets” at roasts before she goes on. Robin Quivers confirmed this and said she did pre-apologize to her at the Comedy Central Roast of Joan Rivers.

If you’ve arrived at this page, you are most likely listening to the rebroadcast of Whitney’s segment on Sirius, and you want to know what she looks like… especially since she has such a hot voice. Below are two clips and a few images we’ve found around the internet:

US soldier gets nine months in Afghan case

Staff Sergeant Robert Stevens, 25, also was demoted to the rank of private but was spared discharge from the military under the sentence handed down in the first court martial linked to a rogue army unit alleged to have killed Afghans for sport.

Stevens pleaded guilty to four of the five charges against him, including shooting “in the direction of” men he knew to be civilians rather than enemy fighters.

He also admitted to wrongly having a grenade that he claims Staff Sergeant Calvin Gibbs, the alleged ringleader of the rogue soldiers, gave him near the end of last year.

As part of the plea agreement, Stevens will also now testify against other soldiers accused of more grisly crimes in Afghanistan.

A dozen soldiers face charges related to attacks on Afghan civilians earlier this year, including three murders, in which victims’ bodies were alleged to have been mutilated.

All belong to the Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Division’s Stryker brigade at Forward Operating Base Ramrod.

Stevens, who is not accused of murder, described the March shooting under questioning by the judge, Lieutenant Colonel Kwasi Hawks.

Stevens said that, while on patrol, the soldiers saw Afghan men in a field.

“I knew they weren’t a threat,” he said, adding that the men were walking around in the open, not hiding from the soldiers.

But then Gibbs told Stevens and the other soldiers to prepare to fire, saying one of the men had a rocket-propelled grenade, he said. Stevens fired, but says he intentionally missed by a wide margin.

“Sergeant Gibbs then mentioned that we needed to work on our accuracy,” Stevens testified. He said he later lied to army investigators about the incident, claiming that one of the Afghans had a rocket-propelled grenade, as stated by Gibbs.

“It sounds like you made a real effort to not hit them,” Hawks said.

The outcome of Stevens’ court martial could have a significant impact on the cases of the other accused soldiers, said Lieutenant Colonel David Frakt, a former military prosecutor.

“If the person is convicted and hammered, that would certainly incentivize the other accused to potentially try to work out a plea bargain,” said Frakt, who serves in the Air Force reserves.

But Frakt noted that it is also an advantage to other defendants that Stevens’ trial is happening first. “It gives them a good preview of the government’s case against them.” — AFP

December 2 is the first day of Hanukkah 2010, and one of our favorite comedians/actors recorded a hilarious song for the holiday which has now become a classic Hanukkah song. You can watch Adam Sandler perform his Hanukkah (Chanukah) Song below and sing along (we put the lyrics below). Happy Hunukkah Everyone!

If you’re not familiar with the holiday, it is also known as the Festival of Lights, is commemorates the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem after the Jewish people defeated the King of Syria in the second century. At that time, the people want to purify their holy temple by burning a sacred oil for eight days. Unfortunately, there was only enough oil for one day. They lit it anyway in the temple’s menorah, and it burned for the full eight-day ritual anyway! To celebrate this miracle, Jewish people light an 8-candle menorah called the hanukkiyah for eight days, lighting one candle each day until they are all lit.

End The Truth Blackout: Email Alternative/Progressive/Anti-War Sites, Demand That They Support A New Criminal Investigation of The 9/11 Attacks

While news organizations like Democracy Now! and Antiwar.com provide excellent daily coverage of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and deserve credit for enlightening their audience about critical issues, they are strangely failing them by not informing them of the scientific discovery of nano-thermite in samples of the World Trade Center dust by a team of scientists, physicists, and chemists. This incredible piece of information completely rules out the official version of the events of September 11 because only advanced military establishments are in the possession of nano-thermite, which is a high-grade explosive.

To publicize the explosive discovery, Steven Jones, Niels Harrit, Jeffrey Farrer, Kevin R. Ryan, Frank M. Legge, Daniel Farnsworth, Gregg Roberts, James R. Gourley, and Bradley R. Larsen wrote an article together called “Active Thermitic Material Discovered in Dust from the 9/11 World Trade Center Catastrophe” that was published in 2009 in the peer-reviewed Open Chemical Physics Journal. If you want to read a summary of their findings, check out Jim Hoffman’s article “Explosives Found in World Trade Center Dust.” Physics teacher David Chandler has also done outstanding work, particularly in this five minute video clip, in which he presents clear analysis of the North Tower exploding into dust.

This information can change the world the moment it is presented to the public with a clear and historical perspective. If Rolling Stone magazine or any magazine did a story about the big 9/11 lie and put leading figures of the 9/11 truth movement like Richard Gage, Steven Jones, Niels Harrit, David Ray Griffin, Alex Jones, and Jesse Ventura on its cover then it could help bring down the entire state terrorist regime in Washington.

Recently, an influential Australian union leader Kevin Bracken went onto a mainline morning talk show and questioned the orthodox version of 9/11, prompting a harsh and craven response by Australia’s Prime Minister Julia Gillard, who called Bracken’s fact-based comments “stupid” but failed to contest them in any meaningful way.

Google: Evil practices by businesses won’t be rewarded

Don't be evil, indeed: Google wants business owners to know that it won’t reward bad behavior.

The company fixed a glitch in its search engine that made websites with complaints and negative reviews even more visible to searchers.

The new “algorithmic solution” has already discovered hundreds of merchants with abysmal ratings from users and will work to keep those sites from being ranked highly in search results.

The impetus was a story in the New York Times last week, detailing a tale of consumer horror in which a Brooklyn eyewear merchant bullied and tormented customers into leaving furious tirades about the company on a slew of review websites.

The more angry comments, the higher the company’s site seemed to climb in the Google rankings, boosting its prominence and its sales, according to the owner.

Hearing about the case left Google “horrified,” wrote Google Fellow Amit Singhal in a post on the company blog.

"Being bad is, and hopefully will always be, bad for business in Google's search results," he wrote.

Google decided against blocking certain offenders; it would be too narrow a solution. The company also realized that using sentiment analysis to identify negative comments wouldn’t work -- the sources of some of the most reputable links to the bad retail apples are stories from news organizations.

Details on the final algorithmic fix were left purposefully sparse out of the concern that releasing the underlying signals, data sources and combinations of the two would provoke more abuses of the system.

“We can’t say for sure that no one will ever find a loophole in our ranking algorithms in the future,” Singhal wrote. “We know that people will keep trying: attempts to game Google’s ranking … go on 24 hours a day, every single day.”
